Talk: A 7-continent cycle odyssey with Karen Darke MBE

This is the final event in the GWOW programme and is definitely not an event to be missed! Paralysed from the chest down in a climbing accident, Karen Darke’s current Quest79 project involves a handcycling odyssey: nine rides on seven continents, raising funds for the Spinal Injuries Association. Inspired by the gold medal she claimed at the 2016 Paralympic Games, the project has led to adventures from Patagonia to the Himalayas, following rivers and oceans around the world. Karen has been joined by diverse companions, sometimes with no previous experience of riding a bike, let alone of far-flung adventures! Come along and be inspired by the tales.
