Hire & loan

Hiring or loaning a bike is an option if you want to get back into cycling, have a limited budget, want to test out a new bike type or are only in the city for a short time.

nextbike is Glasgow’s city wide bike hire scheme. Once registered online you can hire and return a bike as you need it from nextbike stations stretching across the city for as little as £5 a day with annual membership of £60.

If you cannot afford a bicycle or an annual nextbike membership or don’t have a bank account, you are eligible for Bike for Good’s Bikes for All programme – get in touch to receive a £3 yearly nextbike membership without the need of a bank card.

In addition, the city’s cycling organisations also hire and loan bikes to their members, local communities and sometimes the general public. Hires will incur an hourly or daily fee, with loans usually free of charge. Bike fleets or ‘bike libraries’ often have a range of bike types available suitable for different ages, abilities and uses. Enquire direct with a cycling organisation in your local area of Glasgow about the availability of bikes for hire or loan to suit your needs.
