On Bikes is part of St Paul’s Youth Forum, a charity based in North East Glasgow which aims to alleviate the worst effects of poverty through programmes that focus on exercise, eating, education & empowerment.

St Paul’s Youth Forum has been a very active member of local communities for over 20 years. The organisation runs a community farm and community gardening project, undertakes work counteracting gender-based violence, operates the Youth Radio Station Bolt FM, offers national and international excursions and exchanges, provides accessible and healthy food through its community larder, mobile veg barra, community meals and Mollie’s Diner, and operates the SPYF Molendinar Community Centre, which offers rooms for hire, has a community gym, and provides a space for school holiday clubs, community events, and employability and training services, amid a plethora of additional activities.

On Bikes, the organisation’s active travel arm, offers the following services to communities in North and North East Glasgow:

  • Cycling Hubs to provide maintenance to those who cannot afford it (locations: Blackhill, Royston, Smithycroft and Springburn-in collaboration with ng homes)
  • Bikeability in local schools (i.e. Smithycroft Secondary and St Philomena’s Primary)
  • Dr Bike services in local schools and other community settings
  • Bike maintenance mentoring (i.e. in HMP Barlinnie)
  • Free bikes for those who cannot afford one (the organisation has handed out 1000s of bikes over the past years) a result of very successful collaborations with HMP Barlinnie, ng homes, Transport Scotland, Cycling Scotland, and Paths for All
  • Past management of the major walking, cycling and wheeling infrastructure project Flourishing Molendinar, which has been adopted by Glasgow City Council.

On Bike’s also runs a commercial arm – SPYF On Bikes Ltd. which aims to generate additional funds for St Paul’s Youth Forum and aims to function as an additional layer of protection against the volatile funding environment in the third sector. 100% of our profits go into helping neighbouring communities. It offers the following services:

  • Specialised adaptive / adapted bike services
  • Sale of bikes, e-bikes and adaptive bikes
  • Bike Maintenance
  • Hire of bikes, e-bikes and adaptive bikes
  • Sale of cycling tools, equipment and accessories
  • Dr Bike services
  • Bikeability
  • Active Travel Consultancy and Strategy Development
  • Procurement of bikes, tools and equipment
  • Community Engagement and Consultation
  • Evaluation and Data Analysis
  • Bike Maintenance Tutoring
  • Additional tailor-made services to fit individual’s or
