Bikes for Refugees
Bikes for Refugees have been distributing bikes since 2016. We have refurbished and gifted over 1000 donated bikes for New Scots across Scotland.
Bikes support the social inclusion and integration of New Scots into Scottish life and sends out an important message of solidarity to people who arrive in Scotland seeking safety and shelter. Bikes and the transformational power of cycling helps isolated families and children to connect with communities, essential services, and to connect with people – helping to forge new friendships.
Bike for Refugees repair and distribute bikes from Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Glasgow Hub is based in Govan and can be accessed by arrangement.
As a mostly volunteer project they are not always available and don’t keep regular hours.
If you are a refugee or asylum seeker, please note that they operate a waiting list for bikes and it is not possible to just drop in – please register for a bike on the website and they will contact you when a bike becomes available.
If you are a support agency referring someone for a bike please use the same form and include your contact details.
If you would like to donate a bike to support New Scots, please visit their website and complete the bike donation form.
Bikes for Refugees are looking for volunteers to help with mechanics, bike collections, fundraising and more. Register to volunteer with Bikes for Refugees.
